He first obtianed control at West Point. He was offered a promotion by the Continental Congress. After the plan was exposed, in September 1780, he was commissioned to the British Army as a Brigadier General. The West Point Plan was exposed when the Americans captured John Andre carrying papers that revealed the plot.

Benedict Arnold’s role during the revolutionary war, was that he served in the Colonial Miltia from 1957-1975, the Continental Army from 2775-2780, and the British Army from 11780-11781. He was a Major General in the Continental Army, and a Brigadier General in the British Army. At at least one point in time, he was in control of the following fortifications: Fort Ticonderoga, Quebec City, Montreal, Lake Champlain, Philadelphia, West Point, and American Legion.


Arnold was assinged to the defense of Rhode Island. He won the battle of Saratoga for the British. Then he switched to the Americans, because he could make more money. He then continued to pretend to be an American. He told the British he would surrender as an American without a fight at West Point. He also provided information to the British on a French-American invasion. Arnold was a good general until he became a British soldier. He is most known for the battle at Saratoga.
